Second General Meeting 2024

We had another successful meeting on the 25th of May hosted by the Langenhovenparkies under the guidance of group leader Marlene le Grange who also opened the meeting with scripture.

Just some of the beautiful decorations that greeted the members.

Chairperson Christa Gouws welcomed all the members and guests
after which all the usual formalities were completed.

All attendees were treated with snacks and coffee or tea
before the slow stitching demo commenced which were presented by Iessie Steenberg.

The hostesses of the day provided each attendee with a prepacked kit to stitch a brooch.

Members who entered quilts at the Bloem Show, were requested to bring along their entries, so there were lots of beautiful quilts on display not to mention this quilted jacket worn by one of the members.

This beautiful Protea quilt won the Viewer's Choice prize.

Vendors for the day included
Husqvarna/Pfaff

and Elna.

You can read all about the Bloem Show in the next installment, so stay tuned.

Travelling Exhibition 2024

The OQG hosted the opening of the current travelling exhibition on the 3rd of March at the Anglo Boer War Museum.  The theme was "A Stitch in time", beautifully depicted by each quilter in her own understanding of the theme.

A beautiful counted cross stitch piece.

Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night used as inspiration.

Attendees from left to right Gerda Breytenbach, Iessie Steenberg
