Drive through meeting 12 September 2020

With this Covid-19 virus wreaking havoc world wide, we weren't able to held any meetings since February, but this didn't stop our Guild's innovative ladies, so a drive through meeting was organized by two of our Guild's groups, the Langenhovenparkies and Sterre on the 12th of September 2020.

Various stations was set up around the Church hall we normally use for our meetings and everybody could just drive through and stop at the various stations picking up loads of gifts and valuable ideas.

First up was Iessie Steenberg and Gerda Breytenbach welcoming everybody with a goodie bag filled with delicious treats as well a handy exercise pamphlet for relaxing those muscles whilst quilting.

Everybody dutifully wore their masks and did the elbow greeting.

Our local Elna dealer also partake in the day.

Marietjie Thomas showed off her spectacular jacket made from old cut up T-shirts.

There was also some other interesting recycle/reuse ideas using various household items we normally through away.

Origami boxes made with used copy paper filled with puffed corn made from the leftover of crushed corn.  Everyone could also pick a succulent from Gerda Cronje-Vermeulen.

Ritha Swanepoel showed bags made from empty crisps bags

and free quilt magazines was handed out by Elsa Schoeman.

A handy organizer made with empty tuna cans was on show at this station with a handy handbag made from Shweshwe fabric.

At the next station Lulu Koster demonstrated a shopping bag which she decorated with hearts.  Free thread was handed out.

It was another successful day according to all attendees.

Our youngest quilt member also came along.

Our chairperson, Nelia Venter, handed out quilt patterns.
