General Meeting 13 May 2023

The second General Meeting of 2023 was held on the 13th of May and was hosted by the Gouedrade and Rotary Cutters groups.

Chairperson, Christa Gouws, welcomed the members as well as guests.

Angeline du Plessis opened the meeting with scripture.

Our SAQG representative, Dr Annelize Keevé brought all up to date with all the news from the South African Quilters Guild as well as the various Outreach projects members can participate in.

Our brand new Bloemshow coordinator, Gerda Cronjé, handed out prizes to the 2023 winners.

Marietjie van Rensburg was pleasantly surprised when she won the trophy for the most entries by an OKG member.

Emmarenthea van Greuning received the trophy on behalf of the Ster Quilters for the group who entered the most quilts at Bloemshow.

During Show and Tell, gorgeous quilts were on display as per usual.











This completed Grace's Star Quilt was also on display - the workshop Charlotte Naudé presented at the February General Meeting.


The usual vendors, Pfaff/Viking/Husqvarna, Elna and Quiltalk was also present.




The guest speaker at the meeting, was Alae Grabe, the convenor of Quilt in Clarens.  She brought with demos of the 2023 classes.

The audience was absolutely spellbound by Alae's various demos and antics and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.









Afterwards Frances van Schalkwyk thanked Alae for her presentation with a box of treats.





Another successful meeting done and dusted with all present going away inspired and a little bit wiser.
