2012 Final quarterly meeting - Part 2

A quilt meeting would just not be the same without our regular vendors who has it the hardest packing in, out and up but we do appreciate the trouble they go through.

Then we had two very special ladies at the meeting and as a rule I don't do congratulations on the blog but Linda who just seems to be everywhere and help with everything had her actual birthday today and still chose to attend the meeting to do her bit.  Congratulations Linda and I am sorry for the bad photo but we know you are pretty - eyes closed or not!

The other special lady is Ninor who turned a whopping 80 this year.  Ninor is known as our FFUFO (finally finished UFO) lady.  I hope you had a splendid day Ninor!

2012 Final quarterly meeting - Part 1

I deliberately choose to split the meeting posts into parts; if I don't it would be one massive extremely photo rich post.  So for those who doesn't like this, my sincerest apologies but I am keeping it this way.

This meeting was hosted by the Needles and Pins and how can I not mention the group with the most quilts entered at this years' Bloem Show (it was brought under our attention SEVERAL times) and as with the show, they did not disappoint.

We've been sent e-mails to ask if we would dress in blue and white and upon arrival it soon became clear why.

Even at the entrance where we paid R30 for a kit to participate in a secret workshop, the ticket with your table and seat number was blue as well.  Here Iessie (festival coordinator) is selling tickets.

My ticket at table 3, seat number 3 and what do you know, 33 - my exact age! (wishful thinking).

Have you ever heard about The Bina?

If not, neither have I until I found the website over HERE.

Although not a quilting project easy enough to make even for a non-seamstress and so versatile especially if you take a look at this video on the different uses on You Tube.

Now don't say I haven't tried to give you something new to do over the weekend.  Enjoy!

Summer Craft School for kids

I remember the days when my kids were young and I always stressed about keeping them busy during the holidays.  Well, a quilter acknowledged this need and now offers 2-day workshops for kids between the ages of 9 to 14 during the December school holidays.

MariĆ«tte Venter will have 2 day workshops available in Bultfontein as well as two days in Bloemfontein on 6 and 7 December 2012.  So if you are looking for something to get your youngster started and hopefully going for the duration of the holidays, contact her ASAP.

She will be teaching them basic sewing, fabric painting, mosaic, beading and anything creative.  Occasionally they even bake cake!!

Looking at these photos from previous workshops, I wonder if I too can sneak in quietly.

For more information, contact Mariƫtte at 082 337 3699.
