First General Meeting 2026 - Part 1

The first General Meeting of the Oranje Quilters Guild took place on the 21st of February and was hosted by the Sterre group.

All attendees were welcomed with a big smile by two Sterre group members.

Antoinette Kriel, the President of the SAQG was the honorary guest and promoted among others the National Quilting day to be held on the 21st of March 2026.  This year the Curved Log Cabin quilt block was chosen and Antoinette brought along some examples.







Dewald Compion compiled a pattern using foundation paper piecing which can be downloaded for free from the SAQG's home page.

Chairperson Esta Knoetze welcomed all to the meeting.







Alaë Gräbe brought along all the sample quilts of the 20th Quilt in Clarens festival which will be held from 29 April to the 2nd of May 2026.

Leonie van Zanten brought along the quilts which will be presented at the 23rd South African National Quilt Festival 2026 in Gqeberha from the 7th to the 11th of July 2026.


Ladies hard at work in the kitchen baking waffles for tea time.





Delicious coffee flavored cupcakes was also on the menu.

The tables were decorated with large flowers and fairy lights.



Vendors for the day included Skatkislap from Gqebergha.


Free craft books where there for the taking.


Iessie inspired all present to partake in National Quilting Day.
